The Model 30 Worm Drive gimbal is a general purpose system designed for payloads of 30 pounds or more. The gimbal is designed as a yoke system and supports payloads at the intersection of the azimuth and elevation axes. The Model 30 Worm Drive is equipped with stepping motors and uses encoders on the motor shaft to close position and rate control loops. The worm drives have a backlash of up to 0.1 degrees.
